In November fifteen members met for a networking session in the Business Village at Staffordshire University. The meeting was attended by all branches of the industry including bookbinders and two directors from Brit Writers. We have made some progress over quantifying the size of the sector and the speaker at the next meeting on February 7th at 7pm will talk about the research he has been conducting on this subject. Mr Manoubi Ben L'arni from Staffordshire University Arts, Media and Design is helping produce a DVD of the Publishing Industry in the area and is filming at two independent bookshops before Christmas. It was good to see several attendees embarking on careers as writers and editors and congratulations to Lucy Carter for landing an assistant editors post at Pearson Education, Harlow-our loss is their gain!
